Singapore Airlines First Class SIN-NRT-LAX

The Chinese New Year holidays were upon us granting me the lengthy break to visit the family. I was back on Singapore Airlines 777-300 First Class. It’s an old product for sure. However, you can always count on SQ’s legendary service for an enjoyable long haul flight.

Trip starts with the usual positioning flight from Kuching to Singapore. It is via AirAsia, “the world’s best Low-Cost Airline,” as we are constantly reminded by the owner. Beggars can’t be choosers.

Singapore was short-sighted in not linking Terminal 4 with the rest of Changi. So folks like us who have no choice but to connect via T4 are shuttled like cattle every single time.

Things start to get better after arriving in T3, checking in at SQ’s First Class check-in reception and going airside via the private departure lane:

Things get even more civilized in SQ’s Private Room. This is a section within their First Class lounge. It is reserved strictly for passengers flying First Class or Suites Class on SQ metal.

The Private Room Chinese New Year lunch menu:

Requested the nap room for some peace and quiet (and to do some surfing). I find the table here to be the most conducive for surfing/getting work done. The tables in the lounge itself are more suited for, well, lounging.

Made my way to the gate around 40 minutes before departure.

Boarding was on time in typical SQ fashion and I was in Seat 1A in no time:

Satay and Caviar in the sky – no one does it better than SQ.

Champagne with the Book the Cook beef yakiniku – always the choice flying ex-Japan

Watching Clooney and Pitt age on screen reminds one of how time flies

Landed in LAX (and endured a 2 hour queue to clear US CBP, a precursor to my PSLAX membership)

Singapore Airlines, always a great way to fly.
